Continuing the Tradition: Mizuno Morelia 2 Made in Japan Review
Speaking of Mizuno, I've always thought of the Morelia Neo series, thanks to its slimmer, lighter design and youthful aesthetic. Earlier, I was fortunate enough to try out Mizuno's more traditional style: the Morelia 2 Made in Japan, a pair of kangaroo-skin boots that appear more modest in appearance but offer high-quality performance. This time, I'm testing a colorway that's distinctly Japanese, with a white, blue, and red combination. I'd like to thank Hanstti Soccer for providing the boots.
The Morelia 2 is constructed of kangaroo leather throughout, with the exception of synthetic leather near the collar. The kangaroo leather is reinforced using traditional stitching methods, and Mizuno also states that a special fiber is used to reduce excessive stretching of the kangaroo leather.
The Morelia 2 features a more traditional built-in heel design, and the studs also use Mizuno's traditional short round spikes. The Morelia 2 tested this time is the Made in Japan version, which, while more refined than the Indonesian version, also takes longer to produce.

Throughout my testing, I particularly enjoyed the ball control of the Morelia 2. The high-quality kangaroo leather provided a superior feel, allowing me to easily control the ball where I wanted. The kangaroo leather is soft and pliable, not as thick as traditional kangaroo leather boots, allowing for closer contact between the foot and the ball.
I'm also very satisfied with the Morelia 2's ability to deliver both long and short passes. Thanks to the high-quality kangaroo leather, I feel a rich feel on long passes. The thickness of the leather is just right, giving me plenty of power on long passes. Over time, the leather blends in with my foot, and my feel for the ball improves. As for short passes, the Morelia 2 feels comfortable, allowing me to easily feel the ball, and my passing path is very consistent. I particularly enjoy using the Morelia 2 for controlling the ball, turning, and passing; it feels very seamless.
As for dribbling, I find them very comfortable. The soft, kangaroo leather and wide-leg silhouette make them a favorite for wide-footed players. However, due to their mid-foot shape, the fit is less tight than the Morelia Neo, resulting in a less aggressive feel and agility. However, the Morelia 2 is light for a genuine leather boot, so it doesn't feel bulky.
In terms of shooting, Ah Xiu rated his performance as above average. He had plenty of power and was easily effective with his instep shots, but he needed time to adjust and develop a quality shot. As for his instep shots, the traditional kangaroo leather provided moderate friction. The curve wasn't particularly pronounced, but the feel of the ball was ideal.
Regarding the sizing, I think they're neither too big nor too small. I usually wear a US8 size, and this size is perfect. As for the shape, I think they're suitable for those with wide feet.
