[Traditional Design: Nike Premier 2.0 FG Real Test]
The courts are on, and it's time to get back to the Boot review. This time, we're testing a pair of Boots that's been around longer, and a great value option in the kangaroo leather category: the Nike Premier 2.0 FG.
The Nike Premier 2.0 features a traditional football boot design, including a tongue and kangaroo leather with traditional drawstrings. It truly evokes the joys of playing football and the dazzling skills of stars like Toddi, Ronaldinho, and Pelé at the highest levels of competition. In this test, the Premier 2.0 is even more elegantly finished in a gold and white colorway, reminiscent of the Tiempo colorway Ronaldinho wore during the 2006 World Cup.
The Premier 2.0 FG, released in 2017, is the second generation of the Premier. With Tiempo's continued technological innovation, the Premier 2.0 continues to offer a choice for boot lovers who prefer traditional kangaroo-skin boots. Honestly, I really like the Premier 2.0's positioning. Besides the traditional tongue, the most important thing is that they continue to play with color combinations, offering a lot of attractive color combinations.
The Premier 2.0 utilizes soft, tanned kangaroo leather throughout, with cross-stitching to minimize deformation from frequent wear. The Premier 2.0 features a tongue with Velcro for a more secure attachment to the boot. The inner heel is made of suede and features a slight indentation for enhanced lockdown. The studs are made of standard TPU rubber and are short, round in shape.
After field testing and friendly matches, I'm most satisfied with the Premier 2.0's passing performance. The Premier 2.0's power is moderate, and the kangaroo leather provides excellent short-range feel, allowing for smoother delivery. I also enjoy the Premier 2.0's inward-spinning passes, which further enhance the superior feel. Regarding long passes, the Premier 2.0 has a certain heft, and because of this, I find the Premier 2.0's long passes have ample power, making it a superior feel, allowing me to easily execute softer long passes.
A-Boeing is also pleased with the Premier 2.0's ball feel. The Premier 2.0's kangaroo leather isn't thin, and the inner layer is padded. Overall, A-Boeing believes it delivers a familiar, traditional ball feel. The thicker kangaroo leather upper not only enhances ball control but also aids in ball control, making it easier to control the ball. Furthermore, the kangaroo leather adapts to the foot's shape over time, and we believe the Premier 2.0's ball control will only improve with time.
Dribbling is the Premier 2.0's weaker area. The Premier 2.0's sole is constructed of twelve short, round studs and is made of standard TPU rubber. Therefore, the Premier 2.0 doesn't offer a particularly strong sense of speed or agility. However, these short, round studs make them ideal for most artificial and turf surfaces in Hong Kong. In terms of comfort, the Premier 2.0's soft, textured kangaroo leather provides a pleasant feel. However, I'm a bit bothered by the Premier 2.0's relatively flat insole, which makes it inferior to kangaroo leather boots like the Morelia Neo and Monarcida. However, the Premier 2.0's lockdown is quite good.
Shooting performance was average. On instep shots, the Premier 2.0 had a decent weight, providing ample power. However, the Premier 2.0's upper wasn't flat, so achieving high-quality instep shots took some getting used to. Regarding instep shots, the Premier 2.0's thicker kangaroo leather upper provided more grip and a more pronounced arc.
Regarding sizing, the Premier 2.0 may run slightly smaller. If you want a proper fit from the start, we recommend going up a half size. However, as kangaroo leather will mold to your foot over time, we'll resize the Premier 2.0 back to your normal size. After all, a better fit over time leads to a better feel for the ball. Regarding the shoe's shape, the Premier 2.0 is a mid-foot shape, but thanks to the kangaroo leather, we believe it will be suitable for players with medium to wide feet.
