As a speed-focused shoe, the Mercurial has been upgraded again for 2022, hoping to continue delivering a high-speed, explosive experience. The most distinctive feature of this new generation of Mercurial is the large AIR logo emblazoned on the inside of the shoe. The shoe also reveals that the flagship of this new generation of Boot is its Air Zoom technology. This isn't the first time Boot has used Air Zoom; it's been featured in numerous previous models, including the Air GX, Air Zoom Total 90, and Air Zoom Tiempo Legend. With this re-introduction of Air Zoom technology, and its application in the Mercurial, we wonder what kind of experience it will bring to everyone? Today, Boot will share a hands-on review of the Mercurial Vapor 15 Elite AG .

The Vapor 15 Elite's upper utilizes Vaporposite+ technology. Yiti explains that it's constructed from a mesh material combined with premium materials, and features a coating on the outer layer to enhance the shoe's feel. The Vapor 15 Elite's cage is constructed from a thin yet durable material, aiming for a more comfortable fit and enhanced lockdown. Furthermore, Yiti explains that they conducted testing with athletes to redesign the shoe's shape, further tailoring it to the foot's shape. Finally, of course, Yiti's redesigned Air Zoom sole is now ¾ length and custom-designed for the shoe, aiming for a more responsive feel and a greater sense of speed.
I've played several matches in the Vapor 15 Elite and experienced a sensation I've never experienced before. The moment I land, I feel the Air Zoom's resilience, comfort, and excellent cushioning. At high speeds, the Vapor 15 Elite's forward bounce is even more noticeable. I think the new Air Zoom is exceptionally well-made, giving me a greater sense of speed. Furthermore, the Vapor 15 Elite, as always, is a more refined shoe, and its lightweight materials definitely provide a greater sense of agility. I believe the Vapor 15 Elite elevates the Mercurial to a new level.
Furthermore, Ah Xu believes the Vapor 15 Elite's shooting performance is also high-quality. Perhaps due to the Mercurial's re-customized shoe shape, which better fits the foot, Ah Xu believes it makes it easier to catch the ball and shoot more smoothly. Regarding inside-foot shots, Ah Xu believes the Vapor 15 Elite strikes a good balance between power and friction, providing ample power, ideal friction, and a noticeable arc.
Regarding long and short passes, Ah Xu rated the Vapor 15 Elite's long-range passing quality as above average, with both power and feel for the ball, making it easier to get to the desired position. As for short passes, due to the thinner upper material, the Vapor 15 Elite offers a barefoot feel, and Ah Xu feels close to the ball, resulting in a more bouncy and smoother pass.
The Vapor 15 Elite also offers excellent ball-touch feel. Its thinner material, more snug fit, and perfectly applied upper coating provide a premium ball-control experience, allowing for easier control of the ball. The upper material also offers a slightly improved feel for ball control, especially during short passes. The delicate ball-control feel of the Boot is even more noticeable.
Unfortunately, the Mercuruial shoe shape is relatively slim, so it will be more suitable for people with medium to narrow feet. The size is not too big or too small, so you can just choose your normal size.
Overall, I consider the Vapor 15 Elite to be the best generation of boots in recent memory. Of course, I also really like the feel of the Vapor 11. However, the Vapor 15 Elite excels in all areas, making it a truly versatile boot. The only downside is that the Vapor 15 Elite offers less protection, thanks to its thinner material. Finally, I like the design of the current generation of AG studs. The AG PRO studs used on the current generation differ from the previous generation. While they still use short, round studs, they are longer than the previous generation. The use of these new generation AG studs definitely gives the Vapor 15 Elite stronger grip on artificial grass, delivering a more explosive feel at speed.
